More Than Just Catching Fish.

The Fight to Save Florida’s Waters.

The natural flow path of Florida’s waters was altered for the advantage of farming and infrastructure decades ago. Water that once trickled south to the Everglades through the “river of grass” is now pumped through man-made systems to the east and west coasts. The water being pumped to the east coast enters our estuary through the St. Lucie River, bringing harmful contaminants and an overabundance of freshwater that wreaks havoc on the balance of our coastal ecosystem. Captains for Clean Water was founded by fishing guides who were sick and tired of seeing our coastal communities choked out by industry. Click the video to right to learn about their most recent efforts to redirect water and establish more equitable water flow between the coasts to help save Florida’s water - and head to their website to learn more about how you can get involved in the fight.

Listen as the Captains For Clean Water crew explains how we all can win on behalf of our coasts the upcoming LOSOM process.

Listen to Bonefish Tarpon Trust’s Habitat Program Manager explain what we’ve learned about the cycles of our flats fisheries and what we need to do to protect them.

Support Science.

The decision makers who control access and regulations of our coastal fisheries rely on the best available science to do so appropriately. Groups like Bonefish & Tarpon Trust bring sound science to the fight to protect our fisheries. On your trip with High Roller Charters, you may have the chance to tag a fish and contribute to one of the select non-profit groups that diligently work to build a database of invaluable information about our gamefish - their habitat and forage requirements, their spawning cycles and their migratory journeys.

Support Proper Management.

Sound science is the basis for sound management - but unfortunately with the additions of partisan influence and special interest involvement, that’s not how things always work. The American Saltwater Guides Association is leading the fight to unite recreational and commercial anglers, as well as manufacturers and endemic industry businesses, to collectively push for policies that support abundant fisheries. Head to their website to learn more about how we all can find better business through conservation.

Listen to the Saltwater Guides Associaton explain how equal opportunity, resource-first management focused on abundance will rebuild and maintain incredible fisheries for all. This applies to federal management - and state and local management.
